Meet the Guides
All Bristol Bay Lodge staff are CPR and First Aid certified. Members of the guide team are licensed with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and as a minimum must hold a Coast Guard issued Limited Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Guide License on the Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska. All employees are hand selected based on individual character and trained by Management and senior members of the staff. Safety in everything we do is Bristol Bay Lodge’s number one priority.

Dan Claus Dan Claus - Pilot/Guide
Dan returns for another season in a life-long career as a commercial pilot in the Alaska bush. He combines the skills of flying and fishing, and has accompanied a full generation of Bristol Bay Lodge guests. During the winter seasons, Dan divides his time between fishing and discarding numerous unsolicited invitations for membership in a nation-wide association of retired persons.

Reuban Dunagan Reuban Dunagan - Pilot/Guide
Reuban has been a pilot for many years flying frequently out of Alaska as well as Key West. We are very pleased to have Reuben flying for us again this summer.

Matt Janik Matt Janik - Guide
Matt is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up fishing in the Northwoods. Eventually he started chasing Steelhead and Salmon on the Great Lakes tribs and never looked back. When not chasing salmon in Alaska, Matt is in pursuit of steelhead all over the Northwest. He also is an instructor and guide for Clark Fork River Outfitters guide training program in both spring and fall. Matt has been with BBL since 2008

Eric Mannon Eric Mannon - Guide
Eric grew up in southern Ohio chasing small and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes since he could walk. Eric honed his skills fly fishing for trout and salmon while serving four years in Alaska while enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. Eric has done a wonderful job running our Birch Creek Camp on the Middle Fork of the Goodnews since 2007. In the winters, Eric guides in Chile for Martin Pescador Lodge with several other BBL/retired BBL guides.

Tyler Savage Tyler Savage - Guide
Tyler grew up in the bush of western Alaska in the small town of Bethel and quickly developed a love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. At age ten, his family moved to Ellensburg, WA and it's here that he picked up his first fly rod and has yet to put it down. He began guiding on the Yakima River, located in Central Washington, but after a few seasons something was missing, and returned to AK in 2007 to guide for BBL and found what he was looking for. The 2011 season will mark number five for Tyler. In the off-season he chases big game across the West, and is working towards his goal of holding a commercial pilot certificate.

Art Lacinack Art Lacinak - Guide
Art started his first season at BBL in 2009.  Art was born in Wellington, New Zealand and moved to the states when he was 5 years old.  He grew up fishing spring creeks in Wisconsin and fly fishing for salmon and steelhead on the Great Lakes tribs.  Art is a graduate of Sweetwater Guide School and worked on the Yellowstone prior to coming to BBL.  Art is a very accomplished guide and angler who takes a lot of pride in showing his guests a great time on the water.

Jeremy Pagano Jeremy Pagano - Guide
Jeremy grew up in New York fishing trout and chasing upland birds.  Jeremy came to BBL in 2008 and has done a great job guiding day in and day out on the Togiak River.

Dylan Brody Dylan Brody - Guide
Dylan grew up in southeast Minnesota fishing the spring creeks of the driftless area for trout. He enjoys fishing a variety of warm water species including bass, musky, pike and especially carp. Dylan's true passion is steelheading on the small rivers of Minnesota's north shore and chasing ducks and geese in the fall. The 2011 season will mark Dylan's second season working for BBL and we're excited to have him with us once again.

Tom Kersbergen Tom Kersbergen - Guide
Tom came to BBL in 2010 and spent the season at Birch Creek Camp on the Middle Fork of the Goodnews. When he's not guiding for BBL...Tom is an obsessed bowhunter who travels across the midwest to stick big whitetails with his bow. Winters have him guiding for Martin Pescador Lodge in Chile with several other BBL/retired BBL guides. Tom did a great job at Birch and we're looking forward to having him back on the river in 2011.

Erik Phillips Erik Phillips - Guide
Erik came to BBL in 2009 as a guide apprentice and put in a full season working hard around the lodge learning the ins and outs of guiding. Erik guided on the Wok and ran our Kemuk camp on the upper Togiak River in 2010. Erik worked a college internship in the winter of 2010/2011 where he enjoyed several months working in Antarctica. We're looking forward to hearing his stories this June!
